Windsor Dim Sum

March 4, 2021 by chito

There are several high-profile dim sum eateries in Boston, and Windsor Dim Sum Cafe is one of my favorite. The establishment appeared modest from the outside but once inside the atmosphere transformed into a packed eatery with communal tables packed with multi-generational families.  Usually there’s a long wait, but today my timing was fortuitous and I was able to secure a … [Read more...] about Windsor Dim Sum

MGM Springfield Springs Back

August 9, 2020 by chito

So after delivering the step-deck trailer to Hale's, I made my way to Pride truck stop to get fuel and a shower. It's the only place for truckers in Springfield, and was rudely informed that there were no showers and a two hour limit for parking. Can't do my Ten here - guess I'm going elsewhere. So I made a bee-line downtown, parked my rig at Court Square and headed to the … [Read more...] about MGM Springfield Springs Back

Hale Blindside

May 31, 2020 by chito

So I was told I could deliver the trailer to Hale Springfield over the weekend, even though the retailer was closed till Monday. But when I arrived, there was almost no where to drop the trailer. Someone had already dropped a trailer earlier and I didn't want to block the entranceway into the yard. My only solution was to do a blind side alley dock. Almost anyone can … [Read more...] about Hale Blindside

Boston Hide

November 26, 2019 by chito

"Hey we need you to recover a trailer in PA," said the CH Robinson broker. Driver blew a head gasket and this load needs to get to Boston by Thanksgiving." I could sense the desperation in his voice. I was heading to Richmond with the tow-away from San Antonio, so making a course change to PA was doable. I wasn't planning to go to Boston, especially before Thanksgiving, … [Read more...] about Boston Hide

Cold Water Beach

October 25, 2019 by chito

Call me nuts, but the water in Natasket Beach in late October really isn't too cold to go for a dip. Yes cold water can put you in immediate shock and kill quickly. It could make your limbs heavy, and you can aspirate water and drown. But as long as you gradually ease in, splashing water on myself as I acclimate to the frigid domain. From shallow to knee deep, than to … [Read more...] about Cold Water Beach

The Summer in Springfield

August 12, 2019 by chito

Springfield hasn't changed much since I first visited with my family in 1976. That was our first visit to the U.S., coming over on an extended summer vacation from the island nation of Singapore. The stylish Worthy Hotel, built in 1895 as Springfield's finest tourist house, is still there as an apartment, but still just as majestic. And the city, founded in 1636, played a … [Read more...] about The Summer in Springfield

After I retired from the Navy, I attended George Washington University to earn my MBA. I left with a diploma, and with a food tech startup called RUNINOut. Our goal was to add as many restaurants, stores and attractions to the directory and after running it for five years, I felt I had oversaturated the local Washington, DC market. It was time to take RUNINOut on the road. In order for my startup to grow, I had to add more restaurants – that meant getting outside the Beltway and exploring the highways and byways in small town suburbia. I bought a truck and drove cross-country for two years. Here's my adventures in the Washington, DC area and beyond.
