Thangka Art

April 28, 2022 by chito

Since I studied and ate in the mall after school, I had time to roam around, do some window shopping, and take photos with my Ricoh Theta for Google Street View.  That’s when I met Sabita Tamang who was working behind the Cricket wireless kiosk. She was an international student from Nepal and applying for the nursing program at the University of Maryland Baltimore … [Read more...] about Thangka Art

Thai Landing

April 17, 2022 by chito

Mount Vernon, a haven for millennials and college students has recently turned into a corridor for crime. There have been several incidents where law-abiding citizens have been mugged or gunned down leaving many Baltimoreans feeling vulnerable and insecure. And this was during a time when many retail businesses were still on a rebound after been roiled by weeks of tense … [Read more...] about Thai Landing

Owl Bar

April 17, 2022 by chito

Every October, Baltimore would host a camp and in that same year, it was held at the Baltimore University near the Penn Station. The events were organized by Daniel Schiavone of Snake Hill (not the tavern but the web agency). Just like in DC, after a full day of sessions, we would mosey over to a nearby pub which happened to be the world famous Owl Bar in the grandiose … [Read more...] about Owl Bar

Stetson’s

April 16, 2022 by chito

When a devastating EF-5 tornado struck Joplin, Mo. on May 22, 2011, I had the honor to volunteer with the AmeriCorps. I picked up a lot of debris and pulled a lot of broken branches, and I was amazed at the outpouring of support from Americans all over the country. People were offering services and supplies, and this information was posted on the Joplin Disaster Relief … [Read more...] about Stetson’s

FedEX Fireworks Run

July 5, 2021 by chito

It's July 4th, and just like the last two years, I'm out on the open road enjoying my freedom. This year, I'm transporting air freight airport-to-airport. I booked a load leaving BWI at 8pm, to arrive in Elizabeth, NJ by midnight and depart with another load of overnight packages to BWI by daybreak. Since I wanted to get a head start, I arrived by noon and immediately … [Read more...] about FedEX Fireworks Run

Come to West End for the Sports Vibe

March 7, 2021 by chito

West End is a sports bar that's locally owned and operated. Local hangout and a friendly staff. I had the Annapolis Rose - a hybrid of the Maryland Crab Soup and the Cream of Crab. Reasonable price and a ton of Meat!! The fried shrimp were crunchy and jumbo sized. The six large pieces were gobbled up fast. The seasoned fries were hot and crispy. And I enjoyed the … [Read more...] about Come to West End for the Sports Vibe

After I retired from the Navy, I attended George Washington University to earn my MBA. I left with a diploma, and with a food tech startup called RUNINOut. Our goal was to add as many restaurants, stores and attractions to the directory and after running it for five years, I felt I had oversaturated the local Washington, DC market. It was time to take RUNINOut on the road. In order for my startup to grow, I had to add more restaurants – that meant getting outside the Beltway and exploring the highways and byways in small town suburbia. I bought a truck and drove cross-country for two years. Here's my adventures in the Washington, DC area and beyond.
