FedEX Fireworks Run

It’s July 4th, and just like the last two years, I’m out on the open road enjoying my freedom. This year, I’m transporting air freight airport-to-airport. I booked a load leaving BWI at 8pm, to arrive in Elizabeth, NJ by midnight and depart with another load of overnight packages to BWI by daybreak.

Since I wanted to get a head start, I arrived by noon and immediately went to sleeper berth. I then got on my bike and rode a mile and a half to the USO Lounge at the BWI Terminal.

Not surprisingly, it wasn’t busy, so I was able to snatch a bunk bed and catch some zzz’s. When I awoke, refreshed, I ordered an obligatory frozen pizza and a Jamaican pie then I was ready to hit the road on an overnight Fedex run.

The route was fairly straight forward, taking 95 and the NJ Turnpike. Luckily, I was able to catch some fireworks in Wilmington, DE and Philly to keep me engaged through the night. And I returned to BWI, I spent the rest of the night at the parking lot to reset my hours.

This run goes every Sunday. It’s critical that people all over the DMV get their packages delivered by Monday or else there will be hell to pay.
