So, foolish me, I forgot to start my truck on a regular basis. I let a week go before starting it and the engine won’t completely turn over, even though I could hear the starter motor try to turn the engine. Heck, it’s been a frigid February in DC.
I knew I needed a jump start, so my first instinct was to order a Truck Pack battery booster from Northern Tool. I was going out of town for two weeks so hopefully it would arrive by the time I returned.
Unfortunately the booster was on back order and since it would not arrive until late February, I cancelled the order and called K Neal immediately upon my return.
K Neal had to squeeze their truck next to mine. Then using two jumper cables, one on each side, it took 15 minutes before my batteries were properly charged. That’s because I have eight batteries in parallel. Once I reached 14 Volts, I was able to start her up.
Lesson learned – didn’t need the Truck Pack Booster – it would have been an unnecessary expense and taken up too much space. Make sure I run my truck often especially in the winter and even consider unhooking my batteries so they don’t go dead.
