NOLA Eerie Nights

New Orleans’s famous French Quarter is eerily quiet these days. Normally, there would be bar hoppers and revelers living it up until the wee hours of the morning.

But now with the coronavirus raging and the daily curfews, the city is shut down and Bourbon Street raucous atmosphere is understandably benign.

Not a soul on Bourbon Street, not even a discarded Hurricane plastic glass or a cigarette butt on the street. Everything is swept and sanitized.

Gone are even the homeless people who have been bussed over to a nearby hotel

It’s both surreal and scary to fathom.

Despite the quietude, NOLA is amazingly beautiful in lockdown. The bright, colorful lights are still lit up just like it was Mardi Gras sans the crowded balconies and beads.

When will Bourbon Street, the French Quarter and the rest of New Orleans return to the disco bar normalcy? Hopefully, soon – the city just isn’t the same without the vibe.

Despite the city been eerily quiet, there were a few places open for business. Beer was to go, and I purchased a couple of Abitas to take on the road.
