Providing Heat for NYC

Winter has arrived in the Northeast. Temperatures have been diving and flakes are flying. Cities like New York city have aging heating systems that depend on steam which are efficient and cost effective.

Consolidated Edison (conEdison) Electric provides heat to the cities of New York and New Jersey

Over the years conEdison noticed that pipes were failing due to the production of carbon dioxide that aggressively attacks the pipes.

The city decided to deionized water (DI) to change the quality of the water which improves the quality of steam.

That’s why conEdison relies on Evoqua mobile trailers to filter and deionize the water before it is fed to the steam system. The water becomes highly pure with no minerals – so pure that if you drank it, it could kill you.

So when I received a last minute dispatch to take a mobile trailer from Richmond to Fallsington, PA, I jumped on the opportunity to help warm up New York
